Chef de Cuisine, Steven Kwon
Chef Steven Kwon spent the majority of his childhood in the United Arab Emirates before immigrating to Vancouver at the age of 18. After high school, he attended the University of Korea where he realized that his wanted to pursue his passion for cooking and moved back to Vancouver to attend chef school. He graduated from the Culinary Arts Program in 2001 and immediately joined the team at Bacchus Restaurant (Wedgewood Hotel, Vancouver) under Executive Chef Frank Dodd and Executive Sous Chef Jonathan Gushue, now of Langdon Hall. From 2002-2007, Chef Kwon worked under Executive Chef Don Letendre and Chef de Cuisine Lee Humphries at the Elixir Bar & Restaurant in the Opus Hotel where he started as a commis and advanced quickly to Sous Chef by the end of his tenure.
Chef Kwon spent another year in Vancouver as a Sous Chef at Chambar Belgian Restaurant under Chef Nico Shurmans until early 2008, when he moved to Toronto to join Chef Lorenzo Losetos’ brigade at George Restaurant. His fine dining and worldly experience now drives one of our most popular restaurants, Oliver & Bonacini CafĂ© Grill, Bayview Village.
